This was our first visit to the Car Show at Dromore and, we were told, on this occasion it had moved to a field on the outskirts of town. Plenty of exhibits to wander around from all makers.
Ford Cortina Mk 3 powered by Cosworth engine1966-77 BMW 2002. In total 339,092 units were manufactured. Still motoring on UK roads are: Licensed 213 / SORN 201.1973-78 Vauxhall Magnum 1800. Vauxhall offered the Magnum with two engines the 1.8 and a 2.3 version for the sporting young man. Also, either mated to a four speed manual or three speed automatic. Body styles included two or four door plus an estate. The two door design was aimed at the coupe market with its sloped rear roofline. Early 1800s produced 77 bhp while a late update raised this to 88 bhp providing it competitive performance with rivals. The 2300 produced 110 until also receiving an upgrade that dropped power to 108 bhp. A version of the Magnum estate, referred to as Sportshatch, was offered in limited numbers, just 197. The Magnum was capable of 103 mph with a 0-60 in 11.4 secs. A faster version of the Magnum called the Firenza Coupe also nick named droop snoot because of its pointed nose was produced in 1976 in limited numbers (204). Powered by an uprated version of the 2.3 litre engine it produced 131 bhp and provided the Firenza with 121 mph performance and 0-60 in 8.6 secs.
