Originally manufactured by Rootes a division of Chrysler Europe between 1970–76. The compact Hillman Avenger became rebadged as the Chrysler Avenger in 1976 until 1979 In 1980 Chrysler sold its European arm to PSA. The Chrysler marque was dropped and replaced by Talbot.
